The Duffy 26's waterline was extended 2'9". Outboards replace the inboard engine, eliminating the bulky engine box and expanding the sheltered cockpit space. The deep forefoot of the downeast bow offers a soft entry through the water. The modified keel and lifting rails give the DUFFY-29H (Hybrid) a planning stern. Down forward, the cabin is fully enclosed. There is a molded-in V berth area and optional head compartment. Available with single or twin outboards, the DUFFY-29H offers the same soft ride as the 26 at cruising speeds of 18 to 28 knots. A great runabout or overnighter, the new DUFFY-29H combines the seakeeping qualities of the Duffy 26 downeast yacht with the convenience and efficiency of a modern outboard. The Duffy 26 was designed in 1986. Since that time we have built over fifty 26's as commercial lobster boats, tow boats, charter boats and pleasure boats. The Duffy 26 is a built down, semi displacement style hull designed for excellent sea keeping. This is a true lobsterboat hull not a "stylized" V hull made to look like a lobsterboat. Maximum beam is 9'-6" and beam at the transom is 7'-3". For her size she is as stable a working platform as you could hope to find and she has the classic lines the larger Duffy's are famous for. If you are interested in a complete work boat, utility boat or simple pleasure boat we offer a "standard utility model" of the Duffy 26. All new deck, cabin and cockpit molds this year have enabled us to lower the price and produce an excellent level of finish that can be left as is for a utility boat or dressed up to a yacht finish. This utility model comes standard with a Yanmar six cylinder 260HP which delivers a top speed of 25 knots with an easy cruise of 20+ knots. For those not in a hurry this engine barely sips fuel at say 15 knots. We offer an upgrade to the Yanmar six cylinder 315 HP delivering 28 knots top speed with an easy 25 knot cruise. The engine compartment is completely sound insulated. The drive is conventional shaft w/ dripless seal. While standing head room below is not possible on a hull of this size there is room for a small head, a V berth arrangement. and a simple galley. Construction is to our usual robust but finely fitted standards.
