Northampton Sailboats (as it was originally known) started business in 1982. Now with its associated companies it is involved with world wide distribution, boat building, sail making, boat sales and charter - it is the biggest in its market.

Back in 1982 Tony and Antony Lincoln (who still own the business) were successful but somewhat frustrated dinghy sailors, unable to get a reasonable range of dinghy equipment without travelling long distances. Northampton Sailboats started small and was initially part time until it was moved to the first shop at Balmoral Road in Northampton in 1985. Not long after opening, the then MD of Yachts & Yachting Keith Young and Tony Lincoln had a discussion about launching our mail order catalogue. The mail order service that we are now famous for, was started with a 50 page block booking in Yachts and Yachting. This itself was a major deal in those days, let alone the fact that two weeks before the issue - the catalogue did not yet exist! Antony went to stay with Keith and between them the catalogue was just finished in time. Despite the publication of the catalogue in Yachts & Yachting, the mail order service was very slow to be taken up (most people did not have credit cards and still preferred to visit a shop). With Yachts & Yachtings approval it took nearly two years for us to be able to pay Yachts & Yachting back! Over the years mail order grew progressively and ultimately lead into our early adoption of all things web.

In 2008 we relocated to our new distribution and data centre in Spinney View, Northampton. With additional warehousing since then, this has enabled us to continue to offer the range and service we have always been synonymous with. We have retained and developed our relationships with leading suppliers and dealerships notably; LaserPerformance, Selden Masts, Gul, Gill, Crewsaver, Musto, Neil Pryde and many more.

We are proud of our long standing relationship with many 1000's of customers throughout the UK and World. Whilst it's always gratifying to count National, European, World and Olympic champions as our customers. You will always find us helpful and approachable whatever your ability or experience. Every effort is made to deliver the very best service, products and price - each time you deal with us!

D-One
D-ONE, all about fun and performance The D-one is all about fun and performance. It was designed in 2009 by Phil Morrison with the idea of bringing the spirit and the technology of world class racers to the world of single-handler dinghies. The result is pure excitement. The D-one combines the physicality and the challenge of single sailing with the excitement of top performance due to the gennaker use in the reaches.

D-Zero
Devoti Sailing, Extreme perfection Building on our success, the company has developed a range of boats, focusing on the pinnacle of sail racing. Our projects involve ILCA, Finn, D-zero and D-one.

Club FJ
The Club FJ is a tough, agile performer for beginners to elite sailors. The Club is a fantastic choice for clubs and junior programs looking to introduce young sailors to double-handed sailing with a spinnaker. Our Collegiate version (no spinnaker) is the most popular boat in college sailing; more collegiate sailing teams in North America sail our FJ than any other double-handed sailboat.

Club 420
The Club 420 enables young sailors to learn teamwork, trapeze and spinnaker techniques that simply can't be learned in single-handed boats. Safe for beginning sailors and quick enough to keep collegiate All-Americans interested, sailors graduating from the Optimist class will find the C420 to be manageable and a lot of fun. Progressive sailing associations are developing team racing and fleet racing events around their double-handed trainers. These new sailing challenges are keeping young sailors excited while building participation in junior programs. LaserPerformance has sold more than 200 Club 420s to training programs around North America. More than 100 high schools and colleges maintain fleets as well. The racing and learning continues to improve as more clubs standardize to the Club 420 and participation grows at every level.

Z420
Collaboration with the Best The new LaserPerformance collegiate Z420 has been designed to insure the future success of collegiate sailing through the collaborative efforts of many college coaches including Adam Werblow, Zack Leonard, John Mollicone, Greg Wilkinson, Mitch Brindley, Joel Hanneman, Justin Assad, Bill Healey as well as sailing industry designers, experts and racers such as Pete Levesque, Matt Braitsch, Rob Brooks, Ched Proctor and many others. Their work is evident in each and every innovation that the Z420 brings to the water. The Big Picture The results are distinctly evident when you sail the Z420. The team was able to shave 50lbs from weight of the existing C420 SCV and still make the hull 40% stiffer– so the levels of performance have completely jumped off the charts. The Z420 is also eminently more seaworthy because of its larger, enclosed, air-tight, forepeak which provides a higher level of safety. Attention to Detail Study the detail that has been included in the Z420: an integrated bow bumper, a keelson that is angled to account for the human factors involved in roll tacking, side tanks that have been angled to improve crew comfort and increase internal air volume, an angled and reinforced centerboard trunk cap for strength and ergonomics, increased radii in all corners to increase strength and rigidity of the structure and much more. Working with college coaches has also guaranteed a “turn-key” product! Built Tough from the Inside Out LaserPerformance has completely modernized its construction techniques in building the Z420. The hull and deck employ a modern laminate schedule that utilizes a ballistic core for both stiffness and durability. The Z420’s keelson is a solid closed cell foam structure that is “insert molded” in place when the boat is manufactured. Utilizing the infusion process, the Z420 has a solid backbone giving it strength from stem to stern. It is built to endure. Turning Heads on the Water The Z420 looks as good as it sails! The elongated and flattened foredeck, angled seat tanks, bespoke hardware, distinct color combinations and graphics all work together to complete the package. You wouldn’t want to be caught dead sailing anything else. And it’s Good for the Planet too The Z420 utilizes the infused molding process. What this means is that the molds are closed during the manufacturing process thus keeping volatile organic compounds, or greenhouse gasses, from escaping into the atmosphere. Additionally the resins used in the hull and deck are metered out so that each hull has the same amount of resin resulting in a consistent product and less wasted raw material finding its way to the landfill.

420 Omega
The Omega has it all. It is the ultimate version of the Z420. It includes the impressively light and rigid hull of the Z420 plus all the go fast goodies that make it an ultimate speed machine. Just a few of these features include the tapered mast, fat head laminate sails, adjustable jib leads, fully adjustable mast ram and high aspect ratio foils. The OMEGA is the speediest and most fun collegiate boat on the market.
